This was an amazing and well thought out experiment. It made me think in a different way when I look at people.
This project was well though out and I never would expect the difference of response with the dog! I thought people who look dark will not be affected by the presence of a dog and remain emotionless. Did you have somebody play the guy who was dress in all black?
---Thank you for the comment! And yes, that was my brother!
Wow! You did really good this made me think a lot!!!! Good job 👏🏻👍🏻
This is a great experiment! You did a great job! We should always notice our surroundings.
Just pure excellence. I thought it was especially interesting when the preconceived notion of people with dogs being safer was challenged when the example of Ted Bundy was used to delineate how societally imposed perceptions affect us.
Pretty comprehensive study and an interesting read it really is crazy to think how societies perceptions effect the way we view strangers and how.some.people could use that to their advantage but even so I still.love dogs and would probably approach anyone with one just to.pet it.
ALWAYS be aware of your surroundings!!!
Great for showing awareness and interesting results
It was a very interesting concept that I had never thought about. I realize that dogs do make people perceive others in certain ways and this experiment proves that. I was very thought out and the layout of the study was very good. Best part was the puppy pictures!
Very interesting and thought- provoking experiment! You did a very thorough job of testing your hypothesis and illustrating how people are either conditioned to be or naturally more comfortable around a person with a dog. Great job!!
Really cool experiment! Made me think of the homeless people that beg with a dog vs without a dog. Great conclusion about “bad guys” like serial killers and terrorists using society’s perceptions to make themselves seem harmless. Very interesting overall.
This was an excellent experiment that was very well done! I learned a lot about how society’s views/ideas can influence how strangers are viewed. I liked how you gathered a lot of data and asked so many people because that validated the results. Good job!
I love this!!
I noticed the photo's of the man with dog showed him interacting with the dog, was that part of the experiment? The "alone guy" was sitting and staring forward, was that what he was doing during the experiment? If so, it would be interest to isolate "presence of dog" as the only factor, & having the human behave the same in both cases. Reading a book, poking at a smart phone, or just staring forward. I'd be curious. I can see more experiments being done with race and breed respectively. The possibilities are endless. As for conclusions, good stuff. I visit at a nursing home & bring my dog along--he's a bit shy and so am I but a dog certainly breaks the ice and is a great conversation starter. I'm pretty sure the good outweighs the bad, serial killers being thankfully rare.
---Hi! Thanks so much for the feedback. The interaction factor was not originally meant to be part of the experiment, but dogs will be dogs and my pup just would not sit still next to the man.
I also think it would be interesting to see how people react with the man behaving the same in both scenarios. I wonder if the interaction makes a difference, or the simple presence of a dog can change perception of someone.
Bringing your dog to the nursing home is a perfect demonstration of the results in this experiment. Thank you so much for sharing.
Very good insight! I wish we could be as trusting as our dogs.
Excellent job the premise was a god one. This would make a good public service announcement. Please consider putting in that form at some point.
I really thought this was going in a different direction. You created a tiered experiment, thorough and instructive. Well done!
This was a thorough experiment with interesting results. It's definitely the case that people can be easily tricked into dangerous situations.
Very interesting to see how dramatically the answers changed just by having the dog. It really shows how we view dog owners in general. Great job!
Good Job very interesting
Very interesting, thank you for sharing :)
Great job! A lot of thought and time definitely went in to this project, dogs definitely do make a person seem friendlier!
Great job I'm proud of you, keep it up
This experiment can change many people's views on society and how to take advantage of people. Well done👍
You really opened my eyes! We are told not to make snap judgements about people, but in reality, if you are human and you have a brain you do this automatically. Great job on your experiment.
Awesome job! This was really interesting!
I think the main reason the "man" seemed suspicious in your first experiment was simply because he was not occupied with anything, only staring off into the distance. I believe that if he had been occupied by reading a book, eating something for lunch, or in this case, petting a dog, he would seem much less suspicious, regardless of the activity at hand.
--- I agree with your statement. I think what a "suspicious" person is doing would definitely affect how suspicious they are perceived. The interaction factor was not originally meant to be part of the experiment, but when working with animals and limited resources some adjustments had to be made. I think it would be interesting how the results would change if the man behaved in the exact same way with the dog and without the dog. I believe that there would still be an overall more positive response to the man with the dog. But, it's something to think about!
Very interesting and thought-provoking!
This is a great experiment! Well done!!
The thought that dogs confuse our perspective of people is crazy. This project was extremely informative and you did an amazing job.
Very Interesting. It was informative to realize how a person could take advantage of someone using how we perceive them particularly with dogs.
