Games take a long time to download to my SanDisk extrema 1tb A2 UHS-I U3 Microsoft SD card (about 60-75mbps) so I want to download games while I'm out at work or sleeping but I don't want the screen to be on and the whole system running for a while 8-12 hours while I'm gone, can the deck download games and update while asleep or are there other work arounds so I can spend my fee time actually playing games instead of downloading them. Cause I can't play other games while I wait and turning on the download while playing setting I've heard puts a lot of strain on the system

I don't have a steam deck yet, but I want to ask: Does the sleep mode work as it did on PSP? Where you can turn the console off in the middle of the game and when you turn it back on it continues from where you left like you never turned it off to begin with?

Does Steam Deck Download In Sleep Mode Reddit

Sorry for the dumb question, tried every option I could think of to get it to show up in search. With my Switch, for months I would turn it off after every use but then I found out you're actually supposed to keep it in sleep mode most of the time if you are using it often. Should I do the same for the Steam Deck? I guess I just wanna know if it would hurt anything not turning it off completely super often.

One thing the Steam Deck lacks is an idle or sleep mode where it'll download games. I've seen a lot of complaints about this so I sought out to recreate this feature. What does this do? It turns off your screen brightness to 0 and turns off the device once all downloads are finished.

If you run it as part of your non-steam library in game mode, you'll need to enable downloads during gameplay in your Steam settings. You'll have to manually lower your brightness BEFORE launching jsds.sh in your library meaning lack of "screen off" functionality.

Has anyone ever experienced this issue: Deck is in sleep mode; I'll press the power button to wake the device, device will chime and wake to previous state, then go right back into sleep mode without touching the device. I'll once again press the power button to wake the device, and it begins functioning as expected.

About 90% of the time, when I pause a game. Put it in sleep mode. And try to pick it back up later, there's always a problem. Like the game crashed while I was away or something. And than I cant even force close the game. I have to do a system restart. Is this not generally advisable? Should I really have to close out all my games every time I need to put my Steam Deck down?

I'm getting pretty bad battery drain when I put it in sleep mode. For example, I fully charged it overnight and checked the battery level in the morning, fully charged 100%. I then put it in my backpack and head to work. After I get off work it's warm in the case and the battery is drained to 20% or lower. Battery health is at 98% in Desktop Mode and I have no battery drain issues when playing games, seems to be discharging at the same rate as before the issue when in use. Is anyone else having this issue or have a fix for it?

Basically, if you leave a game running, paused, or otherwise, then put the deck to sleep, it's still counting towards playtime. So if you have the deck asleep, and if you compare it to your PC library then wake the deck, the playtime will jump up to whatever the time interval was between the last wake. There's a game I've played for a total of about 20 minutes that now says I've spent 74 hours on it.

Often, when i try to enter sleep mode, the backlight will stay on, meaning the stopping the steam deck from going fully into sleep mode.ive tried factory resetting the steam deck and nothing has changed. Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this issue? I've read in other posts that it just fixes itself overnight, but it's been happening for a few months now...

Does anyone know a fix for this? I play my gamepass games, then go to put my deck into sleep mode by pressing the power button, and after about 15 minutes I have to totally reboot windows. Also resuming from sleep mode breaks my game pass games. Any solutions?

Hi. Has anyone experienced the problem of losing unlocked achievements when playing Retroarch on the Steam Deck and using the sleep mode? I'm playing Pokemom Red and for some reason after some time achievements are first unlocked but then not synced with the server The only guess I have is that I paused the game through the sleep mode and that somehow produced this behaviour.

Things I've tried include messing with power settings to confirm power button is set to sleep, not shut down, and turn off Asus eco options for sleep in armoury crate, and disable hibernation, and I've tried choosing sleep from the power menu rather than pressing the power button. I've tried both on and off of the features above, but nothing seems to reliably just let the thing sleep and wakeup like a laptop or like my steam deck running windows. On bios 319, everything updated to the max.

Obviously if the deck remains in sleep mode it's probably ok for it to be inside the case, but are there any situations in which the deck will turn on by itself from sleep that I should be worried about?

If I don't use desktop mode, the Deck goes to sleep as usual and there are zero issues. But as soon as I use desktop mode and return to gaming mode (doesn't matter if I restart from desktop mode) the Deck refuses to go into sleep mode, with the screen still lit and then turning back on after 20-30 seconds.

I am downloading a game and my wifi isnt the best so its gonna take couple of hours but everytime i put down my headset it goes to sleep mode and idk if its isnt downloading and if it isnt then is there a way to keep it always running?

I started playing Final Fantasy 3 PR the other day and always put the SD in sleep mode when I finished playing. I noticed today that my play time for the game is over 80 hours, while the in-game clock is barely 4 hours. Does anybody else have this issue? It's not deal-breaking, but I suspect it can be a problem for game refunds (since they're based on Steam play time).

Lately I've been having this problem with waking up my Steam Deck from sleep mode. I would go to power it on and I would hear the boot up sound but my screen would still be black. I would have to power it off and power it on fully completely in order to get the device running again and it works fine after that. I am not so sure what was the problem but a couple of weeks back I did accidentally drop it from around knee cap height and the Deck worked fine for the last two weeks no problem. But maybe now it is having some issues. What are some solutions to fix this problem?

I am currently owning a Steam Deck and waiting for Win 4. The best thing I like on the Steam Deck, as a "busy" father, is to be able to suspend and resume games. I play games on the steam deck mostly on my couch and when my kid or wife calling me for any reason, i simply turn it off and when im again "free", i just push the power button and continue where i left. I believe i've tried on my GPD Win Max, not very stable... Is there any way that we can make this as good as Steam Deck on Windows UMPC? Thoughts?

When I try to take it out of sleep mode, the game screen doesn't load correctly. The game is running, but it's just not displaying unless the steam UI is open. Rebooting the game doesn't fix it, and the problem persists between games. I have to hard reset the system EVERY TIME I put it in sleep mode. It's been an issue since I bought the Deck last year and it's seriously hindering my enjoyment of an otherwise fun console. If anyone has any ideas for a solution, I'd appreciate it.

I can't figure out how to know if the console is on sleep mode or not because there's no light and no fan sound when i put it in energy saver mode and i don't know if the saver mode support download while in sleep mode, also how I can shut down the console without disabling the sleep mode from settings. Xbox seems very complicated for me.

for a device made by apple this seems like an oversight to me. is there any way to use the always on display but have it shut off when sleep is turned on?? it keeps my whole room lit up and i end up using theater mode to turn it off every night.

There are games I play with save points which are far away from each other and I don't have much time to play during the evening after work. So I thought about just playing until I fall asleep and instead of quitting the game I put the whole steam deck in standby so I dont lose any progress before the next checkpoint.

I have found that if you remove the SD card while the steam deck is in sleep mode and create new directories on it the directories disapear when reinserting into the steam deck, and the only way to recover them is to run an fsck on the SD card then move the files out of lost and found. Super strange issue, but thought I put something up.

Edit: Just realized that this is actually more likely an issue with putting in an SD card with new files while in sleep mode as opposed to removing, my guess for the issue is that since the steam decks sleep needs to save the directories and files being used for the resume function when it wakes up it forces the SD card to conform in order to avoid errors thereby deleting any added files.

I usually play 2-3hr at night so steam deck is in sleeping mode for around 20hr. I know that the device has direct power delivery when charged to 100% or if battery is above 90% but of course it still loosing its battery in sleeping mode. Do you turn your deck completely or keeping it in sleep mode? The reason im asking that charging battery at 88% to 100 every day is not healthy.

Does anyone else experience this? It's happened pretty consistently. Once I put the deck to sleep in game, the audio crackles when I open it up again. It requires me to close the game entirely, which sort of negates the purpose of sleep mode.

I'm on stable. First I thought it was a non-steam game problem, but now its happening with a steam copy of Ori and the Blind Forest. Put deck to sleep -> wake up -> screen goes on for a second then turns back off -> press power button again -> game has a black screen and i have to force quit -> restart deck before games work again. 17dc91bb1f
