One day, out of the many since Rama was sent into exile for thirteen years, started off like any ordinary day. Unknown to Rama and Sita, however, it would not be ordinary at all.
As Rama and Sita continued to walk along a path near a stream minding their own business, they decided to stop to eat lunch and get some water from the stream. Even though Rama had been exiled and Sita had decided to go with him, it had not dulled their love for one another. Being alone and traveling wherever their hearts desired that day had been rather fun for both of them, as long as they did not think about the fact that they couldn't return home for a very long time.
However, even though all this traveling and walking had been exciting, it had started to get a little unstimulating. Rama and Sita both knew that, but neither wanted to admit it to the other.
They proceeded to unpack their lunch, the same lunch they had been eating for who knows how long, when all of a sudden a strange noise erupted from the distance. Rama and Sita jumped to their feet. This was not a normal noise at all. It could only be described as a wheezing, groaning sort of noise. So they ran toward the noise and what did their eyes behold? A strange blue box materialized out of thin air!! *Click to hear the noise* Rama and Sita both looked at each other, mesmerized but at the same time extremely confused. It was like nothing they had ever seen. The box said "Police Call Box" on the front, but those words were meaningless to them. However, there was also a door, so after staring in shock at this impossible object they decided to knock to see if anyone was in there and before they could knock, a man popped out! Dressed all funny, with a bow-tie.
He just swaggered out of his box and said, "Hi, I'm the Doctor."
Rama and Sita were both so surprised that a person was actually in the box that they didn't know what to say.
The Doctor then said, "Am I in India? You know time travel, it's all wibbly wobbly timey wimey. It's hard to get a perfect landing, but I think she did it!"
Still confused, Rama and Sita both nodded.
The Doctor went on to say, "Ah, I can see you don't understand what's happening. Well, I'm a Time Lord, last of my kind, and this is my TARDIS. She allows me to travel in time and space and for certain reasons I decided to travel back in time to India for reasons, reasons I don't share with just anyone. So, you people must have names? Just like you silly humans, always so amazed at technology you forget how to speak. It's a time-traveling box that's really it. I go everywhere and anywhere I like, so speak up. What're your names?"
Rama was the first one to speak up. "I am Rama, son of Dasharatha, and this is my wife Sita. I was exiled from my home. So now we just travel around together, visiting all the places we always talked about going to."
"Well, that sounds like a fine plan, Rama. You know, I traveled here as well and since it is always better to travel as group what do you say we all do it together then, shall we? But I only have one rule: don't wander off, got it?
Before Rama and Sita could object, or say anything really, the Doctor ran off. Rama and Sita chased after him, mainly because they were just so curious about this mad man in a box, and where did they find him? At the spot by the river where they were eating lunch. As the Doctor was eating their food, he looks up and says "Oh, sorry, I shouldn't be rude. Would you like some?"
Still dumbfounded, Rama and Sita shrugged it off and sat down to eat lunch with the Doctor. After that moment, they were all friends, and this would be one of the last simple moments of their time spent with the Doctor.

Author's Note:
For my first story, I wanted it just to be about the Doctor and Rama meeting before we got into all the fun parts. I decided it would be best if Rama met the Doctor during his exile because that's when the most action happens in the Ramayana. Even though in the original story, Rama's brother decides to enter into exile along with Rama I decided it would be best if he wasn't in this version. I see the Doctor as almost replacing him. We don't really see much into the boring parts of Rama's exile, but I figured there must have been one day where nothing really happened. Also I don't know what exactly they do during their exile when they aren't fighting demons or rescuing Sita. So I made it where for the first part of Rama and Sita's exile they were just traveling the country, trying to make the most out of a poor situation. Once the Doctor enters the story everything has just flown out of the window. They don't understand who he is, how he got there, or what he's doing there, but the decide to be his friend and travel with him anyways. The Doctor is in India because he suspects Rama is possibly another time lord. He came to India to find Rama and he just happened to meet him as soon as he landed. So the Doctor was very surprised, but now he can travel with Rama to observe his behaviors to decide if he's actually a Time Lord or not.
