My aim is to provide competent and independent LOLER service that helps arborists work legally, safely, select equipment that is effective and have systems in place that support their businesses in this regard.
These systems are simply ways of recording your weekly inspections which comply with the legislation. In addition, your inspections will then support my thorough examination and help keep you safe in the event of insurance claims and health and safety investigation.
Lifting operations and lifting equipment regulations ( LOLER ) require that by law arborists (and other work at height professionals) must have a thorough examination of their equipment by an independent and competent person.
For most people / organisations lifting/lowering equipment should be inspected annually and PPE (Personnel protective equipment / climbing gear) every six months.
There are exceptions to this, for example, different schedules for heavy usage or after a fall or similar event.
This is something I’m happy to help with.
Examples include:
Examiners without the background knowledge to understand how the equipment is used.
Equipment being failed that simply shouldn’t be, this leads to unnecessary expense and inconvenience.
Examiners using arbitrary timescales for the life of equipment rather than the manufacturer's recommendations.
The destruction or confiscation of equipment (which is not their responsibility).
Examiners failing new equipment without consulting the manufacturer.
My service avoids these problems.
The report from the examination will detail reasons for any equipment not passed. I will make recommendations for next steps when appropriate, and will support your strategy for equipment selection. I will provide a spreadsheet on Google Drive that you can use for routine inspections and I can use for examinations.
I have the following qualifications:
City and Guilds NPTC 0037-03 Unit 301 Certificate of competence in the thorough examination of Arboricultural Equipment
And:
Unit 02 Thorough Examination of Arboricultural Equipment
My professional indemnity insurance for this work is with Arborisk
