Pressing the "Language" button allows you to switch between Japanese, English, and Chinese. Bibliographic data is available only in Japanese. Some sections are not yet multilingual as they are still under preparation.
Kanko Shojakumokuroku and Goshomotsugatanikki Suitoroku are currently being prepared for public release.
The full text of Genjizoho Goshojakumokuroku (including Ikokushomoku, Goshojaku Rairekishi, and Shimatsuki) is available for public access.
A standardized version of the text, in which all characters have been unified to the orthodox forms based on the Kangxi Dictionary, is provided on the Traditional Characters Edition page.
The text in the Traditional Characters Edition is not compatible with variant character searches. To enable searches using commonly used Japanese character forms on Japanese-language PCs, a separate Standard Characters Edition page has been created. We recommend using the Standard Characters Edition page when performing in-page searches. (For details on the in-page search function, see 2.1.2.)
The order of the text follows the volume sequence arranged by our research group. For differences from the organization order used by the original holder (Archives and Mausolea Department of the Imperial Household Agency), please refer to the Introduction page.
The Genjizoho Goshojakumokuroku display format is explained based on Figure 2. The numbers ① to ⑥ in the figure correspond to the numbers in the following descriptions.

Clicking "Traditional Bibliographic Classification" displays all books included in this system in classification order (see 4).
Clicking "Japanese Titles" lists all Japanese books with bibliographic data in this system according to the classification in the 改訂内閣文庫国書分類目録 (Revised Naikaku Bunko Catalog of Japanese Books).
Clicking "Chinese and Korean Titles" lists all Chinese and Korean books with bibliographic data and full-text images in this system, arranged according to the Four-Part Classification.
Clicking within the "Japanese Titles" search box displays the major classifications from the 改訂内閣文庫国書分類目録 (Revised Naikaku Bunko Catalog of Japanese Books), allowing you to select a classification. However, some classifications may not contain any books in this system.
In the "Chinese and Korean Titles" section, clicking the "部 (Category)" or "類 (Subcategory)" search boxes allows you to select a classification from the displayed options. It is also possible to specify only a "類 (Subcategory)" without selecting a "部 (Category)."
In the Database Search function allows searching of the detailed bibliographic data displayed on the Bibliographic Data and Reference Images pages (see Figure 5)--referred to as "書誌 (Bibliographic Data)"--as well as the summary of this bibliographic data, shown at the top of the Bibliographic Data and Images page--referred to as "目録 (Catalog)" (see Figure 6).
The main fields for Catalog and Bibliographic Data are listed in 5.2.
If a title or author's name has an alternative name, it may be separately recorded in the database for search convenience. These alternative names are referred to as "典拠 (Authority Data)." Authority data is not displayed on the Bibliographic Data and Images page.
The database search function supports variant character searches.
The functions of the Simple Search Box are explained based on Figure 3. The numbers ① to ④ in the figure correspond to the numbers in the following descriptions.
Figure 3. Simple Search Box for Database Search
① Enter a search term in the Simple Search Box and press the "Search" button to find bibliographic entries that contain the specified term.
② Search Type: Selecting "Catalog" searches both the Catalog (see 3.2) and Authority Data. Selecting "Bib." searches both the Bibliographic Data (see 3.2) and Authority Data.
③ Include: If the "Subheadings" checkbox is unchecked, the search will target only parent bibliographic records, such as collected works, and exclude sub-records.
④ Clicking the blue text "Open Advanced Search" reveals the Detailed Search Box (see 3.2.2).
The Detailed Search Box allows you to search within the Bibliographic Data (see 3.2) by specifying the fields to be searched. You can combine multiple fields to refine your search.
When the Detailed Search Box is open, the Simple Search Box becomes inactive. It is not possible to enter search terms in both the Simple Search Box and the Detailed Search Box simultaneously for a combined search.
The functions of the Detailed Search Box are explained based on Figure 4. The numbers ① to ⑪ in the figure correspond to the numbers in the following descriptions.
Figure 4. Detailed Search Box for Database Search
① Title: Searches for titles appearing in the fields of Classified Catalogs (see ⑨), Outer Titles, Covers, Main Title in Volume 1, Running Titles, Tail Titles, Prefatory and Postscript Titles, and any title appearing in the Catalog. If these fields contain information other than the title, those descriptions may also be included in the search results.

Dynasty: Can be selected from a dropdown menu, which lists options categorized by a text's region of copying/printing—Japanese, Chinese, and Korean titles. Therefore, selecting a dynasty also implies the selection of a region of production.
C.E.: If a specific year is entered, the search will not be limited by region.
⑥ Carver Signature: Searches for Carver Signatures recorded in running titles and other relevant locations.
⑦ Previous Owner: Searches for provenance information appearing in the Outer Title, Additional Notes, and Catalog. If these fields contain additional descriptions beyond former ownership information, those descriptions may also be included in the search results.

Text quoted from the original materials is enclosed in Japanese quotation marks 「 」 within the bibliographic data. These quoted sections generally reflect the character forms used in the original, but only characters that can be represented in UTF-8 have been selected. For all other data, including editorial notes added by the database compilers, Japanese standard characters have been used.
Each image generally represents a two-page spread of a bound book or a single sheet from a scroll or accordion-style book. The images are organized by volume, fascicle, or scroll, and display both the cover and all areas with ink marking.
The IIIF (International Image Interoperability Framework) standard has been adopted for image delivery and viewing.
The functions of the Full-Text Images page are explained based on Figure 7. The numbers ① to ④ in the figure correspond to the explanations below.
Figure 7. Example of the Full-Text Images Page
① The top of the screen displays the sequence numbers of the units (volumes, fascicles, or scrolls) of the book. By selecting a number, you can jump to the beginning of the corresponding unit. If a horizontal scroll bar appears at the top, you can drag it to reveal additional units.
② Clicking "Traditional Bibliographic Classification" navigates to the Traditional Bibliographic Classification page (see 4). Clicking "Bibliography" navigates to the corresponding Bibliographic Data and Reference Images page for the currently viewed item (see 5).
③ Clicking this icon displays a list of thumbnails for the currently selected unit. Selecting a thumbnail allows you to jump to any specific location within that unit.
④ The full-text images are displayed starting from the first image of each book. Clicking here will take you to the next page.
The digitized image files in this archive are created with ICC profiles applied. Accurate color representation can be achieved by calibrating your monitor.
Even in cases where the binding shows irregularities or disarrangement, the images are presented as they appeared at the time of photography.
When paper inserts or pasted-on sheets are present in the original material and can be moved without causing damage, the inserted or attached state is shown first, followed by an image displaying the sheet after being lifted or unfolded.
For works written or printed on one side only, if the reverse side contains supplementary writing in ink or vermilion, only those portions with ink markings are shown at the end of each unit.
For flyleaves without any writing, if they are relatively few in number, all such leaves are displayed. However, when they are numerous, not all may be included.
In cases where seals are repeatedly applied across all sheet joins or reverse pages, such details are explained in the bibliographic data, and not all corresponding images may be displayed.
