The Project

Introduction

The email (previous page) from Lee Featherstone was received and welcomed by Lt Colonel John Tustin as webmaster. Lee's negatives were all over 30 years old. As we were in COVID-19 lockdown, John organised a new Google account which would be shared with Lee; Lee would scan negatives and upload them to the new account. John would pick them up and process them ( tweak presentation, adjust size and filter out the best material.)

After processing a few batches, John decided the best way to accommodate such a large quantity of photographs would be to create slideshows, lasting a few minutes each and present them as movies on YouTube. In this way the storage would be done on YouTube at no cost and the slideshows could be embedded in our archive web pages, the links to the slideshows taking up practically no web space. Links to the embedded videos could be placed as appropriate through out the existing archive websites, adding to our seamless web based archive. Individual photographs could be used as illustration in relevant articles throughout the archive.

This proves to be a considerable task but with the combined efforts of Lee's scanning and uploading and John's processing, design and building, it is doable. Design may change as the project develops. The initial section deals with EX MARBLE TOR in Gibraltar 1980; several hundred photographs are condensed into four slideshows!

Embedded below are the first four YouTube slideshows:
