Colonel-in-Chief addresses her Regiment

On the 29th June 1985, the Queen arrived at Altcar Training Camp by Rolls Royce and was greeted at the gate by a Guard of Honour. the Queen was received by Colonel Towneley, Honorary Colonel, who then presented the director of the Royal Armoured corps, Major-General SC Cooper and the Commanding Office, Lieutenant-Colonel DAJ Corbin. the latter then presented the Adjutant, Captain HASO Wicks (14th/20th Kings Hussars) and RSM, WO1 RD Stapley (Queen's Own Hussars).


Her Majesty then proceeded to visit the squadrons displaying their equipment and carrying out various training activities. Her Majesty then in turn visited the cookhouse where the Regimental Cooks were preparing the soldiers' dinner, the WOs' and Sergeants' Mess and final joined the Officers' Mess for luncheon and as Colonel-in- chief, signed a specially inscribed page in the Visitors' Book.


In the afternoon, Her Majesty met Old comrades and some of the Regimental families, and the day-long programme was concluded with a drive-past by the Regiment in their Land Rovers.
