1. Ethel C. Coe Memorial Fund
a. The Ethel C. Coe Memorial Fund was established by Alpha Theta Chapter on October 12, 1959, to honor Ethel as a founder of the chapter.
b. Money for the Ethel C. Coe Memorial Fund shall be raised by the chapter and from donations.
c. Money from the Ethel C. Coe Memorial Fund shall be used as a recruitment grant for a deserving McHenry County woman who is studying to be a teacher.
d. Chapter members may contribute voluntarily and anonymously to memorials for deceased members and their immediate relatives. The money collected from these donations shall be added to the Ethel C. Coe Memorial Fund.
e. The grant shall be awarded on a yearly basis to a recipient who is a university junior or senior in the department of education, and who meets the established criteria.
f. The Ethel C. Coe Memorial Fund Grant will be determined by the money raised during the fiscal year, up to, but not to exceed, $500 per semester.
2. Alpha Theta $500 Memorial Recruitment Grants
a. The Alpha Theta Memorial Recruitment Grant is a continuing education grant to be awarded to a McHenry County woman educator for a special classroom project or to a McHenry County woman who is returning to school to earn a degree in Education.
b. The Alpha Theta Memorial Recruitment Grant shall be awarded to a recipient one time in an amount not to exceed $500.
c. The funds for the Alpha Theta Memorial Recruitment Grant are generated from the accruing interest of a $3,750 CD. When $500 interest is accrued, the money is put into the general fund designated for this grant and becomes available for award.
d. These funds can be supplemented by the Scholarship Committee’s fundraising efforts.
e. Applications for this grant are available through the Scholarship Committee.
3. The Ethel Raue Memorial Grant
a. The Ethel Raue Memorial Grant was established from a $20,000 endowment in memory of Ethel Raue to be administered by Alpha Theta.
b. The Ethel Raue Memorial Grant is available to any Alpha Theta DKG member who is pursuing a special project or professional development related to their career in Education.
c. The funds for the Ethel Raue Memorial Grant are generated from the accruing interest of a $20,000 CD which is automatically deposited into a Savings Account. In addition, $.60 per member is also deposited annually into the Savings Account out of the dues collected.
d. These funds can be supplemented by the Scholarship Committee’s fundraising efforts.
e. Applications for this grant are available through the Scholarship Committee
