I doodled leaves. Lots of leaves. First, I used watercolor, and then I grabbed a drawing pen and started the serious doodling. Just playing. Adding little dots. Making lines going in different directions. Doing whatever I felt like doing.

Toffee Doodle Cookies are my personal twist on a traditional snickerdoodle cookie! Imagine your favorite cookie, rolled in a sugar-cinnamon mixture, and stuffed with crunchy toffee bits. Is your mouth watering yet?!

These cookies are delicious and easy. I followed the recipe exactly. I did use a smaller cookie scoop (1.5 T) and adjusted the baking time to about 9-10 minutes. They came out very flat but still soft, chewy and yummy. Any thoughts? Thank you!!

P.S. The toffee bits I used were Heath and had chocolate on them.

Day 1 found me taking a very literal translation of both the weekly theme and the daily prompt. Using ZigWriters, I doodled the zebra stripes before filling them in with the colors of the rainbow. (Roy G. Biv, baby! Nothing makes me happier than a rainbow of color!) I count myself among others that appreciate the movement in RAINBOW ZEBRA:

Faux stitching was the prompt for Day 3. I began this piece by sponging hot pink acrylic paint over a plain white card. Next, I masked off a stencil and sprayed it with Tattered Angels Caribbean Blue Glimmer Mist. When it was completely dry, I doodled in some stitching with a purple ZigWriter. Some rub-on stitches were also applied. EMBROIDERED FLORAL was a fun piece to create!

The Day 5 prompt was recycle or re-purpose. Regular readers of this blog know that I have no problem re-purposing and recycling bits of this and that in my artwork. This piece began with a 4 x 6 card from the backing of a k and company scrap book embellishment. The soft green of the packaging provided a perfect base. To that, I added three randomly placed circles, cut from an old greeting card. From there, I doodled with a gold Sharpie until three blooms emerged. ZigWriters and a white Sharpie paint pen filled in the color and details. DoOdLe FLoWeRs are a favorite relaxing pastime.

When I first came up with the Mr. Doodle character I was still in university. I was studying illustration there and they taught me about narratives and kind of making narrative sequences and stories and things like that and those elements were always a big focus on the work. So, I thought it would be better to attract people to the work if the character had a bit of a story and it was a way to anchor the work and build a plot for me to then build bits of work from that. So, I made videos relating to the story and small projects of different parts of the story. It really gave me this starting point from where I could start to branch out. e24fc04721
