I have been racing bikes since 2012. My emphasis is on road racing -- long road races and crits. I am a Category 2 racer in this discipline. I also dabble in gravel racing in the winter and spring, and sometimes cyclocross in the fall. I currently race for the Sakari Race Team (Sakari being a sushi restaurant in Des Moines). Previously I raced for DMOS.
I've had the luck and fitness to be on the podium a bunch of times. My most notable results include winning a cat 3 crit at the prestigious Gateway Cup in St. Louis, and also a couple of second places at the Snake Alley Criterium . In 2016 I was the Iowa Road Race Masters' Champion.

An 80 mile road race comes down to a final sprint. My future teammate Jared (in blue) outsprinted me by a couple of inches. I'm in DMOS orange here as this is pre-Sakari days.
Lucy crashed the podium for this one. She's unimpressed.
