I've had several artist names but none really clicked to me. When I was brainstorming new artist names I could use, I thought of using words that had my real name, but I scrapped it and thought phrases that Filipinos often use in their everyday life instead to showcase my culture.
'Diyan sa kanto' (E: At the street/Over there, at the street) is a phrase I often hear and use whenever I commute via jeepney or tricycle. I also really like streets for some reason, so the artist name was perfect for me. I did think the name was too long for other artists to call me by, so I added the name 'Kian' to the 'kanto' part as an alias.
and one of my favorite foods. Malunggay pandesal is a type of bread that uses malunggay (E: moringga) leaves as a flavor. There is also a malunggay pandesal bakery at the street leading to my home, so I got inspiration from that as well.
