Early Artworks

In the 1970s, newspapers and magazines would run a "Can you draw this?" contest with Tiny, Spunky, a pirate, a turtle, and a deer.  I don't know if anyone ever sent these in, I know I didn't.  But I did draw two of them and then drew characters from a couple of comic strips.⬇️👇

In 1979, one of my great aunts came to visit.  She was an accomplished pastel artist.  She taught me what she could in the short time she was there and I ran with it.⬇️👇

In the late 1970s and early 1980s, I worked on expanding to sketching botanicals.

Most of my early art was created by copying a picture. But I did do some from my mind to a piece of paper.⬇️👇

My far my favorite things to draw in the 1970s and 1980s were celebrity portraits done with simple number 2 graphite pencils.
