This project is important because the educational system is in need of a system-wide overhaul that focuses on unlearning the whitewashed curriculum that has been widely accepted. By unlearning this curriculum, teachers will be able to implement one that incorporates more diverse voices, and offers students a chance to see themselves represented and included in the dialogue, regardless of their race and/or culture. This is an important step in creating a social-justice minded society that accepts and appreciates diverse perspectives and people.
