Welcome all! Within this website is a system that has been created to group families and child care providers together into circles to ensure our children are receiving a variety of tools and resources to facilitate academic success and interpersonal development. Information has been collected from a variety of sources that engage in transformative education and in child care services to build a well rounded set of expectations for families and children that foster success and mental wellness for every family member. This model will provide a financially and socially equitable solution to in-person learning despite our lack of formal structure during the pandemic.
We are going to start off with a pilot of 4 circles. In one circle we will have grades K-2nd, in another we will have 3rd-5th, and in another 6th-8th. High school students can apply for tutors or ride shares to extra curricular activities. There will be 4 kids in each circle, one distance learning coordinator, and one child within each circle of 4 will be subsidized (free) due to low income status. The cost of the distance learning coordinator's services for paying families will be $250/week per one child for full time care. $200/wk per child for 2+ children from the same family for full time. $150/wk per child for all part-time care. (This will be paid directly to your distance learning coordinator.)
I have made applications for potential distance learning coordinators and for parents. The purpose of these is to match everyone geographically, by schedule, grade level of children, need, parenting style and based on any other criteria you include so that we can personalize this as much as we can. A host family will be chosen for each group and we will make sure every host has the resources they need to make this function safely, fairly and adequately for every child.
The main purpose of these circles is to make sure our kids are developing socially and emotionally, as well as academically. The distance learning circles are meant to accompany the distance learning platform your school has in place and not replace it. So this is for parents that want to stay enrolled in our public school system and also want to make sure all kids are receiving a complete education that fosters growth in every stage of their development while minimizing the risk of COVID-19 as much as we can according to evolving CDC guidelines. I know that distance learning schedules will vary by teacher/parent so if and when you find out your learning schedule, discuss with your coordinator to plan that into your child’s day. For now we are just pairing people according to your schedule as parents/care-providers.
