As the inverse of the upcoming “Frozen” land, Wonderland is about when our imagination gets a bit too far. Note the difference between Wonderland and Pleasure Island- Pleasure Island is all about having fun, this is all about imagining fun. Wonderland is built for very young children.
Wonderland is all indoors, and imagineers have taken this to the extreme by turning it neon. Unfortunately, there are not many images that represent the look, so we'll need to use our imagination sometimes. The neon ultimately enhances the utter absurdity of Wonderland.
So the hidden world of Wonderland may seem wacky and fun at first glance, but this dreamworld contains hidden nightmares every corner! The land is a giant loop. We will be moving across Wonderland counter-clockwise. As you journey through, you will find yourself retracting Alice's steps!
Guests will first enter a beach, where they will find the Caucus Race a small boat ride that takes guests around wonderland. Each boat is named after sea creatures. The boats take you to numerous small sequences without any connecting story.
Guests will also find Fish Dinners ($$), a shack the Walrus and Carpenter built to have a meal. This place will serve guests various seafood dishes, with the top item being clam cheppino.
Moving forward, guests will enter the indoor forest. The forest contains the Mad Tea Party. In the middle of the enhanced Mad Tea Party is the Mad Hatter’s table, complete with tea set. When the ride ends, guests will see the Dormouse pop his head out sleepily before going back in.
Walking around the forest, guests will see many of the various creatures, and even an interactive Cheshire Cat animatronic. Someone is actually behind the screen, and will randomly shout out to guests as if he is real.
A short note: Mad Tea Party will be moved from its original location in Disneyland Fantasyland be updated here. In its place at Fantasyland will be a new Brave-themed flat ride.
Guests move further to find the Wild Butterfly, guests boards the Butterfly as he soars around. He will fly into the White Rabbit’s home and over an angry bird’s nest. This coaster is kid friendly, but uses airtime efficiently to provide a fun time for even older guests. The map below will show the layout for this coaster!
After the Butterfly coaster, you will be funneled into the White Rabbit Inn, the central store of Wonderland. Here you can get some specialty neon Disney clothing at a cheap price.
Passing the forest is the Queen’s Courtyard. Here guests will find the Red Roses maze, where they must follow poems and riddles to help find their way out.
The Card Deck ($) is a small snack stand selling some healthy food and smoothies! There a variety of fruity flavors, as well as some made-up flavors with some strange tastes. When you come to Wonderland expect to make a stop here.
All in all, Wonderland is small yet efficient children's area that will surely bring lots of happy- and wacky- memories!
