The CaliFloral festival opens on the first day of Spring (March 20th, 2022) with a fantastic Spring Has Sprung celebration. That evening at around 5PM, the World of Color fountains come on early, slowly rising up and down and building excitement for the celebration to come. As the sun begins to set and the evening darkens, the lagoon becomes the center of activity in the park. Quiet renditions of songs from Fantasia echo around the lagoon. The waters of the lagoon become subtly colorful, and a light mist begins to move across the surface of the water.

Suddenly the music swells as the celebration begins. The fountains grow taller and more majestic as they are lit up with a range of vibrant colors, each one representing a distinct type of flower used in the festival's celebrations. A female narrator informs guests that Disney's CaliFloral Festival is a celebration of the bountiful, beautiful blooms of California and the inspiring music and animation of Fantasia. Every single plant and flower used for the event comes from a local Californian farm.
After the narrator finishes her short explanation of the event, a 5-minute long musical presentation follows. Select pieces from Fantasia, arranged specifically for this festival, play as the fountains shoot columns of water into the air. Short clips from Fantasia are projected onto mist and played back slowly as their respective songs play. These clips have been edited to incorporate floral designs and patterns.
Finally, as the final clip finishes and the music swells, the fountains burst into color once again as cannons shoot a wave of flowers over guests. Smellitzers with lovely flower smells add to the effect. The Spring Has Sprung celebration has concluded, and the festival has just begun.
Note: Spring Has Sprung occurs every day of the CaliFloral festival. However, the flower cannons and early ambiance occur only for the first three days of the festival.
If there is an excess of extra flowers available near the end of the festival, the cannons and ambiance will be used again for the last few days of the festival as well, in order to prevent flower waste.
