Description

Animation is a fantastic way to bring stories and characters to life. In intro to animation campers will learn different types of animation including stop motion, claymation, and more. We’ll be using iPads provided for them and the app stop motion studio. They’ll learn the fundamentals and techniques that animators have been implementing for over 100 years. If you have a creative student with an eye for detail, this is the perfect class for them.

Week 1 (9/22/2023) -

We will open with introductions, then discuss animation. Our introduction to animation will be with flip books which will help the campers get a grasp of the techniques and fundamentals of animation.

Week 2 (9/29/2023) -

We will do paper animation. We start each class with a few video examples and go over the techniques we’ll use for that type of animation.

Week 3 (10/6/2023) -

We will work on claymation and stop motion animation. These typically take the longest so this will span two days.

Week 4 (10/27/2023) -

Campers will continue their claymation and stop motion animations and will finish up any other projects that had not finished. Once their projects are finished they’ll airdrop their projects from their stop motion animation app which will then be put into a PowerPoint.

Week 5 (11/3/2023) -

Showcase!

Campers watch and explain the different animations they made over the course of the five days and it’s a good opportunity to see how their story telling and animation skills have grown in such a short time.

Take some time to plan your thinking and responses to these questions.   Use note paper or a journal to think about and answer the following Learning Walk questions:

·         What was the coolest thing you learned?

·         What did you create or accomplish that you are most proud of?

·         What curiosity did this learning spark in you?

·         What do you now want to learn more about?

ASSIGNMENT:   Create a Learning Walk presentation that answers these questions in any format of your choosing.  You can record a video, write an essay, create a presentation, or even a learning flyer!  Be creative in your presentation.  When finished, please upload your presentation to Google Classroom (slides, art, or document).

If you choose to record a video, you may use this following Flip Grid link:  https://flipgrid.com/fee9ab05

·         Students may create a slides presentation, a written essay or short answer response, a flyer or brochure, a collage or   scrapbook, or even a video presentation they record to FlipGrid

·         Students should be guided through this assignment and should upload to Google Classroom their final product.

·         When completed, students should mark the assignment as complete in Google Classroom
