Typical dishes
Hungary’s most traditional cultural element is its cuisine. The national dishes are goulash (a stew made with meat, potatoes, and paprika), bean soup with meat, and beef stew, in fact Hungarian food is very rich: red meat and spices such as paprika are frequently used as ingredients, for example in lecsó, made with hot paprika, tomato, and sausage. The most popular drink is beer.
Celebrations and festivals
One of the most important holidays is 20 August, commemorating the death of King Stephen. Another major national holiday is 15 March, which commemorates the democratic civil revolution of 1848. Last but not least, the Day of the Martyrs of Arad on 6 October. In addition, there are lots of art festivals and folk festivals like the Folklore Festival along the Danube, the northern region's annual Palóc Festival, and the annual Bridge Fair. In the annual Budapest Spring Festival, there are art exhibits and musical and theatrical events.
Traditions
One of the most colorful Hungarian folk traditions is the custom of Easter. At Easter, girls paint or dye eggs and prepare traditional festive dishes.
On Easter Monday, they dress up in festive attire and wait for the boys to visit them and sprinkle them with water or some perfume.
