Unit 1: Circuitry

Biomed Engineering

Biomedical Engineering is the application of engineering to solve biological and medical problems in order to improve human health.

Electrical Engineering

Electrical engineering is an engineering field consisting of the study, design, and use of electrical  equipment and technologies.

Series Circuit

We were instructed to build a series circuit that would power and light two LEDs, each individually connected to two buttons, but only powered when both were pressed.

Parallel Circuit

We were instructed to build a parallel circuit, which would light a single LED whenever any of the two buttons were pressed.

College Readiness Circuit Diagram

555 Alarm Circuit Diagram

We used Circuit Lab to create a diagram of our alarm circuit. The finished product will be using a 555 chip and will consist of a speaker, several resistors each with different values of resistance, a capacitor, and a transistor.

Alarm Circuit Board

Our alarm circuit board was used to produce the alarm sound if three risk factors existed from our completed circuit. We used a series of resistors and capacitors to create this board.

Green Light Logic

The diagram to the left displays our logic if zero risk factors exist, which would cause the green LED to turn on.

Yellow Light Logic

The diagram to the right displays our logic if one risk factor exists, which would cause the yellow LED to turn on.

Red Light Logic

The diagram to the left displays our logic if two risk factors exist, which would cause the red LED to turn on.

Final Project

The final project was to construct a circuit that would determine the risk of a patient being infected by the coronavirus. This is done by taking inputs that correlate to different symptoms, which determine which output would occur (i.e different colored LEDs turn on, an alarm sounding)

Although our final project does not work fully as intended, we know that each individual component (alarm, timing, etc.). Therefore, the problem itself is most surely not in the design of the circuit, but from external factors, such as:
