Session 1: Troop and Group

101 American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED

Blended Learning Course

This blended learning course includes an online portion and a skills session. Once registered to attend you will be sent a link to complete the online portion (3-4 hours). The online MUST be completed prior to attending the skills sessions and you must show the instructor that you passed the online course. Upon completion of this skills session and the online GSNorCal First Aider course, you will be eligible to act as a Troop First Aider. Please dress in comfortable clothes as we will be practicing on the floor.

Want to learn more about the Resilient. Ready. Strong. program? Join us for a workshop to learn about activities you can do with Girl Scouts to strengthen mental wellness. Life isn’t always easy, but dealing with tricky emotions doesn’t have to be so hard. Nobody can snap their fingers and make the world all sunshine and lollipops, but you can take steps to be ready when things get tough.

103 College Knowledge - Badge Activity Planning

Do you have a high school aged troop? The Ambassador level badge, College Knowledge, steps you through a journey of self discovery and then a good foundation of college admissions basics. Have your 10th/11th grade Girl Scout learn about what is coming up to best plan their roadmap to college!

104 Basic Ceremonies

Everyone loves a good ceremony! Hands-on activities related to Girl Scout ceremonies will be demonstrated. Come learn how you may engage your troop in these Girl Scout traditions. This workshop is specifically designed with Daisy & Brownie Leaders in mind.

105 Business Pitch

Learn how you can engage Girl Scouts in the new Entrepreneurship badges. Young women care about gaining gender parity, having financial stability, and being able to use their talents to make an impact. We will explore fun ideas and activities about how to get youth excited and imagining how to shape their own potential business.

106 Keeping The Fun In Girl Scouts

Occasionally feel overwhelmed as a Girl Scout Leader? New leaders and experienced leaders will get tips and tricks for leading a fun, youth-led program that both you and your troop will enjoy. We've got it all: covering the Essential Girl Scout Leadership Experience, bringing in adult support, and incorporating youth-led into everything you do as a troop.

107 Games Your Troop Will Love

Harness the energy in your wiggly girls and re-energize the droopy ones! Games are a super way to build community within your troop while having active fun. These games are fast, easy, and based on getting along - not just competing.

109 Astronomy Basics

Out at night in the dark? Look up! Learn some basics about the night sky and activities to prepare everyone to enjoy a starry night.

Item to bring: an empty, clean pint or quart size ice cream carton.

Session 1: Outdoor

111 Camp Out Training

This course is required for at least one adult who will accompany the troop when cooking or sleeping outdoors. Emphasis is on how to teach skills to the girls and prepare them for their outdoor experiences, as well as health and safety concerns. You will be preparing your lunch during the class, so please do not order a Discoveree lunch.

This is a three session workshop - sessions 1, 2, & 3. You must attend all three sessions to get certified.

Items to bring: mess kit (Unbreakable dishes and “wind bag”), water bottle, pocket knife (optional) camping chair, and outdoor clothing per weather. An email will be sent to each participant before class with further details.

112 Dutch Oven Cooking

Expand your outdoor experience by learning about Dutch oven cooking. We will learn about the care and feeding of Dutch ovens as well as learn some new recipes for breakfast, dinner and dessert. You will be preparing your lunch during the class, so please do not order a Discoveree lunch.

This is a two session workshop - sessions 1 & 2.

Items to bring: mess kit (plastic or metal plate, fork and spoon).

113 Map Making

Put together tech, art and the outdoors and turn it into a map! Learn some techniques for making a map, from pencil and paper to computer and GPS. We will practice making maps and discuss ways to involve girls in all steps of the process depending on their skill and interest level.

114 Outdoor Skills

Learn ways to teach your girls trail signs, track casting, compass, pocket knife use, 10 essentials, safety outdoors and more!

Session 1: Crafts & Personal Interest


115 Amiga Mia Bear

Learn how to make an Amiga Mia Bear (My Friend Bear). Teach your scouts how to hand sew a 10" furry teddy bear. All fake fur fabric, thread, needles and ribbon will be provided. You will receive an Amiga Mia Bear pattern at the end of class. This makes a great service project for a troop or service unit.

Items to bring: a third of a bag of stuffing and fabric cutting scissors.

116 Beady Buddies

Who loves beads? Who loves to create things with beads?

Come to this workshop to learn how to teach beady buddy creations to children. Making beady buddies requires patience, persistence and acceptance. Sometimes it is not easy and often kids get frustrated and give up...BUT when they finish: They Are So HAPPY, feel accomplished and successful. Let's have fun with beads!

117 Forest Crafts - Barn Owl and Brownie Broom

Nature provides us with many natural materials that can be creatively fashioned into fun and useful items by your girls. For example, what can you do with acorn caps, pine needles, pine cones and bark strands? Join this workshop and find out! Have fun learning about and making two forest craft projects - a Barn Owl & a Brownie Broom.

118 Ribbon & Yarn Leis

Learn to make beautiful traditional Hawaiian ribbon and yarn leis as gifts to celebrate graduations, birthdays, and special occasions.

119 S'More Box

Use your woodworking skills to sand, build, stain and finish your own tabletop indoor/outdoor S’MORE Maker.

And for S’MORE fun, you will make and enjoy an afternoon S’MORE snack.

120 Tree of Life Pendant

The tree of life is an ancient symbol popular in many cultures. It can represent: Family, growth, interconnectedness, new beginnings, strength and stability.

We will create our wire-wrapped tree of life pendant using colored beads and semi-precious stones, or just plain wire to represent its leaves.

Items to bring: any jewelry pliers and wire cutters if you have them.

125 Free Time

Take a session of free time! Visit the council shop on-site, find a table and meet with your friends. Check your social media feed (don't forget to #discoveree2023). This is your time to relax and rejuvenate. Register for this workshop if you do not wish to register for any other workshops this session.
