VEX IQ
VEX IQ
We use VexIQ robot kits to invent and build an automated device that creates a simple polymer (slime/GAK). The robot is programmed combine and mix the raw ingredients entirely on its own. This project connects chemistry and automation, demonstrating how robotic systems can safely replicate industrial manufacturing and chemical processing.
Our idea was to create a mechanism that dumped two cups of the ingredients (activator and food coloring) into a third one (glue) and have a mixer at the edge of the third cup to mix the ingredients together. We were only given two motors, so we used one for the pouring and one for the mixing. Below are images of our building process.

Our (almost) finished design
After a few iterations of each part of the robot, we coded the robot to tilt the top two cups 90 degrees, then mix the ingredients together for 10 seconds. We also poured some activator with the food coloring so it could pour out of the cup. After that, we had made slime!
Success!
