Joel and Lynn Rosenberg were discipled by T.E. and Indira Koshy. They have gone on to disciple many others. In this book, these two couples share years of experience and wisdom.
The book is essentially a manual that would-be disciple-makers can use interspersed with reflection on Jesus' disciple-making and testimonies of the Rosenbergs and Koshys plus others they have mentored. T.E. Koshy, in turn, had been discipled by Brother Bakht Singh and he tells something of his life and ministry.
The basic premise of the book is that every Christian should have someone investing in him/her and should be investing in some others. It has sections on:
defining what discipleship looks like
finding someone to invest in you - how to go about it; what to look for
Jesus' disciple-making example
prayerfully finding people to invest in
getting the relationship started
further topics that need to be part of the process
worship
It is highly practical and would provide a basis from which to launch a discipling relationship as well as an outline of a curriculum. It possibly reflects a fairly conservative theology (e.g. limiting the spiritual gift of prophecy to preaching). Nevertheless, there is much to learn from people who have successfully discipled others over many years,
