On June 26, 2007, the PDGA approved a new distance driver for Innova, the Destroyer. "354 total Champion Destroyers were produced over a 2 day period when the mold was first being test run. The first 160 made were stamped and "pre-released" for the US Masters event. The second set of 162 Champion Destroyers were stamped for the So-Cal Championships and were offered with the CFR forms. There were 32 black Champion Destroyers stamped with the Japan Open 2008 Kabuki logo and taken to Worlds to be sold at the flymart."
The 2007 Professional Disc Golf World Championships were held from August 1st to the 5th.
The 2007 United States Masters Disc Golf Championship was held on September 14th, 15th, and 16th.
The 2007 So Cal Championships were held on November 17th and 18th.
Walter Murray, Football Destroyer
Kevin Gerlich, Champion Discs Star Stamp
Casey Allshouse, Bar Stamp Destroyer
After the initial pre-release discs, Innova stamped the next run of the Destroyer with three stamps, the "Football" stamp, the "Champion Discs" stamp, and the "Bar" stamp. They also had stamped many discs as Candy Fundraiser discs for tournaments around the country. Of the three stamps, there were 340 of each and were released on August 15th, 2007.
"I am emailing to provide you with very valuable information. Tomorrow (8-15-
2007) at 10:00 am I will be listing on the site in the Candy Fundraiser section
- Champion Destroyers.
These discs will be very collectable as they have 3 different old school Innova
Champion stock stamps. There are a total of 340 stamped with each design. The
designs are the “Bar” stamp, the original “Champion Discs” Star stamp and the “
Football” stamp. Champion Destroyers will not be made available again with any
stamp until after October 1st. These 3 stamps will not be run again!
I have a very limited number that I am selling to help raise money for the Las
Vegas Halloween tournaments. The other events that will have them are: So-Cal
Championships, Twisted Flyer Open, Lowell Shields 35th Annual Washington State
Championships, Ray Antoon and the Washington State series, Chris Himing and the
Australian Championships, Wright Life for Kiss the Sky and Mike Cozzens and the
Sandy Point tournament.
The small quantity that I have will sell out in record time. Get one while you
can or help support these other events by getting in touch with the above
listed TD’s. Thank you again for your continued support.
Spincerely,

The Prototype Stamped Star Destroyer came out shortly after the Pre-Releases. These Destroyers are some of the most commonly collected Destroyers in the market. They came in many different color and stamp combinations.

The stock run of Star Destroyers after the proto-stamp are commonly referred to as PFN Star Destroyers, or Pre-Flight Number. Some refer to them more recently as Pre-Avery because of the popularity of the Avery Jenkins Signature Sires Star Destroyer. These Destroyers are known to be some of the most understable Destroyers made in premium plastic depending on the run. The penning on the back of the Destroyers has a topic of debate for quite some time. *D Destroyers seem to be the most understable of the PFNs, where as S/DS are the most overstable. *DS Destroyers are right in the middle of the spectrum of stability.
After Avery Jenkins won is PDGA World Championship in 2009 he was awarded with the signature series Star Destroyer. The first stamp configuration of his signature series discs are referred to as "2 Lines" because his name and "2009 PDGA World Champion" are condensed into two lines of the stamp. These Star Destroyers are medium in the stability spectrum.

In 2013 Innova decided to change the AJ Destroyer stamp. They broke "Avery Jenkins 2009 PDGA World Champion" into three lines instead of two. These destroyers are considered some of the most overstable Star Destroyers up to this point.

In 2015, Paul McBeth was the most dominating force in disc golf. He had won his fourth consecutive World Championships and was on his way to winning all five Majors. Avery Jenkins was slowing fading from the tour scene, and Innova made the decision to give Paul the Star Destroyer. In September of 2016 Innova released the McBeth Signature Series Star Destroyer. These Destroyers came in an infinite combination of colors and stamps, and are widely considered to be some of the most stable Star Destroyers made to date.

In 2017 Innova changed its molding process for some discs, including the Star Destroyer. They started embossing, or tooling the name of the disc on the underside of the flight plate. These Destroyers are still very stable, but slightly less stable than the original McBeth Destroyers.
In 2017, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of one of the most popular discs in the game, Innova releases a special stamped Star Destroyer.
