The BUZZZ

First Run

2003 - 2004 (WASP tooling)

On September 30th 2003 the PDGA approved a new midrange for Discraft, the BUZZZ. The BUZZZ was a new disc that used the original WASP top, while adding a new wing. In the injection molding process, the "tooling" inside the rim remained WASP, and the BUZZZ was born. The original BUZZZ was stamped with the classic "First Run Super Straight Modified WASP (FR SSMW) stamp that you see to the right.

Second Run (Wasp tooling)

Discraft ran the WASP tooled BUZZZ for about seven months. Besides the First Run, you can find SSMW stamps, 4 point stamps and CRYZTAL BUZZZ. By this time, summer of 2004, the BUZZZ had become popular enough to receive it's own molding parts and the BUZZZ tooled was born.

In 2006, Discraft released the Second First Run of the BUZZZ, using the original molding. These were WASP tooled, and stamped "2nd First Run SSMW." They released these discs during the 2006 Players Cup. They came in three colors, and four different foil options; Black, Gold, Silver Holographic, and Ghost.

Bootleg Second First RUn

Extra WASP tooled discs that were made at the same time as the Players Cup discs, but were not stamped with the 2FR stamp and considered Bootleg Second First Runs. These discs may have had imperfections in the plastic, the stamp, or just didn't make the cut for various reasons. These discs were stamped with the normal SSMW stamp, team stamped or not stamped at all.
