Project Progress:
Status of the project:
Baseline data collection and waste volume collection by Dolomiti Ambiente.
The first wave of data collection is complete, and 10 recycling bins were put in Palazzo Piomarta and Fedrigotti. The results of the research will be shared in a future event. Stay tuned!
The project consists of three phases:
Baseline data and opinions will be collected to understand how best to improve the waste collection system. (November/December 2025)
An intervention will be implemented using this data, with the aim of streamlining the waste sorting process for recycling. (February/March 2026)
A final questionnaire will be conducted to check the effectiveness of the intervention and help us understand next best steps. (April/May 2026)

Sustainable waste management is one of the most important environmental challenges for modern organizations, and it is one of the local parameters monitored for global sustainability goals.
Every day, university buildings produce a large amount of waste. Specifically, the volume of RUR (Residual Urban Waste, or waste after recyclable waste have been separated out) disposed of by UniTrento is higher than expected.
The University of Trento is committed to making its spaces more sustainable, and this project was born precisely to facilitate a daily working life in line with these goals.
