Dr. Sachin Apparao Pawar

Sachin is born in Mangrul a village in Solapur district of Akkalkot tahsil in Maharashtra which lies on the border of Maharashtra and Karnataka, India. He did his schooling at Government Public School at Pusegaon, Satara after being selected through 4th grade Scholarship exam. He went on to Sangameshwar College, Solapur to do his Bachelor of Science in Physics in 2008. He moved to Shivaji University, Kolhapur to pursue his Masters in Solid State Physics. During his masters Sachin had cracked the Combined Defence Service (CDS) exam and got selected for the Service Selection Board (SSB) interview held at Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India for the officer's in Defense services but due to lack of guidance he could not succeed in further selection. Later in 2010 Sachin joined for his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) under the supervision of Prof. Pramod S. Patil. He did his Ph.D. in Quantum dot solar cells using metal oxide (TiO2) and metal chalgogenide (CdS, CdSe) QDs. While doing his Ph.D. he did part-time job at Chate Coaching Classes a private tuitions in Kolhapur. At the latter stage of his Ph.D. he got selected as a Research Assistant on a Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India funded project. During his Ph.D. he also contributed as a part time lecturer in teaching Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at Department of Technology, Shivaji University, Kolhapur. He along with his Ph.D. mentor and colleauge were instrumental in setting up the School of Nanoscience and Technology at Shivaji University an integrated Bachelor and Masters course in Nanoscience and Technology. In December 2014, he got an opportunity to work at School of Materials Science and Engineering, Chonnam National University, South Korea as a Post-doctoral Research fellow with Prof. Jin Hyeok Kim and served on this position till June, 2016. He moved to Department of Physics, Yeungnam University to work with his wife together under the supervision of Prof. Jae Cheol Shin in July, 2016 as a post-doctoral research fellow till November, 2018. He served as an International Research Professor in the same group.
