Here lay the pieces of my heart turned into words
In the darkness she finds comfort, it lays heavy like an iron cloak
The light violates her hidden truth, a truth as deep as the breath held in her lungs
Only barely seen, as the glare from the lighthouse scouts the vast open seas
The icy waters crash against her tender skin
Threatening to rip her to pieces, not even a great white could dare
She rocks about like a buoy on the current, perplexed
In the distance, the dawn beckons her to steady herself
She searches for the waves, yearning to be washed over
The false comfort offered by moonless skies, now stripped away as the horizon levels out
The orange warmth spreading like a fire blazing through the mountain side
A new day, her sails she must hoist
The journey has not ended
Forward she must sail, whether by choice or force
If by end of day no gains accrued, the moonless skies promise to be her comfort once more
Suffocated by its bitter sweet illusion
Imprisoned by the utter destitution
Seeking and fighting but not reaching any solution
We crawl back into that pit of despair
For our bitter contempt has become our victim's lair
We shouldn't find comfort in our pain
But instead be dancing in the rain
For life is loss and death is gain
Yet we fail to recognize the enemy's plan
Following blindly on his deceiving map
Instead if falling into the Father's lap
See, the plan He has for us is one of hope
But our impatience in His timing
Makes it hard for us to truly cope
He calls us out into the wild
Not for the motions our hearts to destroy
But so we may become brave and say: I am His child!
We endure the trials and difficulties
So we may conquer and celebrate the victories
We run life's race
So that the Father's heart we may embrace
And as the winds of change blew, with greater gust
Her sails she did adjust
For as each season brought with it a wave of new air,
Her wings she simply spread out, evolving with feisty flair
She refused to remain stagnant in that cocoon
She grew, she morphed, she bloomed
Despite the often-agonizing pains of change,
She persevered
She endured
She grew strong
For the race had not yet been completed
This was only but a tiny drop in the vast ocean of possibility
She rode the storm
She became the storm
She no longer needed the approval of man
She couldn’t be tamed and caged by the world
She’s a wild woman
She’s a queen
Like a phoenix from the ashes she will rise
The blazing furnace was never meant for her demise
Her beauty will conquer empires
No, not beauty as this world perceives but of the One who created and ordained her life,
the One who quenches her desires
They will marvel at her triumph
Yet some, of her greatness will spread lies
Drenched in God’s glorious splendour, She remains unfazed by trivial quests
She is steadfast in her Creator,
for by the streams of living water He provides her rest
Her worth is far more than rubies and pearls
Formed from diamond cutting pressure
She is a once in a lifetime type of woman
She is a masterpiece
She is me
She is you
She is a daughter of the King
Tired of the motions, exhausted by the tosses and turns
Unending tests run their course
The battle intense, there’s no remorse
Gone – further than ever before
Cross over the bridge and wait as it burns
“Soon” they say – “soon it will all fall into place”
Stare back at the clock, ten dozen moons have phased
Tired of the motions, exhausted by the tosses and turns
If you do not hurt, you will not learn
If you do not learn, those bridges once burned threaten to return
From the ashes, from the dust
Moving forward – this is a must, Crawl, roll, kick scream
The light reveals a few more moons have passed
Then suddenly she finds herself staring out at the vast lush chasm of opportunity, hopeful
Vision blurred by tear drenched lashes
This chasm once a concrete wall of strife, a valley of loneliness and despair
The journey unending, seemingly uncontoured
Here now she stood, aghast with disbelief
The pressure, the pain, the loss, the gain
The picture made clear, the road smoothing out
She survived. No. She conquered. She overcame.
