Ankylosaurus was a 20-foot long herbivore (plant-eater). It moved slowly and walked low to the ground on all four legs, looking for plants to eat. Ankylosaurus could defend itself by swinging its clubbed tail at an attacker. It was also covered in strong, bony plates.
Hadrosaurs are also called "duck-billed" dinosaurs because their mouth is shaped like the mouth of a duck. We don't know a lot about them because their fossils are so rare! We do know that they were herbivores, and probably balanced mostly on their rear legs.
Pteranodons lived at the same time as the dinosaurs on this page, but they were not dinosaurs! They were part of a group of flying reptiles called "pterosaurs." It lived along the coast and ate and fish and squid. Its wings could be up to 35 feet long -- that's as long as a bus!
Triceratops means "three horned head" because it was a large dinosaur with three horns. Nobody knows for sure why they had a large frill on the back of their heads, but we do know that they probably used their beak-like mouths for crushing hard plants.
