Hi, I'm Dina Bartolotta and I am currently a PE Super Sub at Walt Whitman Elementary School in Syosset NY. I work alongside the 2 amazing PE Teachers and continue to gain lots of insight into the world of PE. Part of my requirements in this position is teaching my class in gym during indoor recess. This experience has brought me great knowledge on how to integrate PE standards and domains into fun, interactive activities for students of all ages
Things you won't find on my resume!
I have a twin brother as well as a little brother who is 7 years younger than us and I come from a large Italian Family. Growing up I always had aspirations to become a Physical Education teacher to change the way students view Physical Education class. This originally stemmed from the lack of structure within my P.E. classes growing up and became more prevalent as I learned more through my education at Suny Cortland. I learned how to disguise learning in play; creating activities that hit each domain and different motor movements all within a fun game. I found joy in making PE more than just sports! Giving all students an opportunity to express themselves in play while also working on their psychomotor and manipulative skills.
My mother is a Middle School Italian teacher and my twin brother is currently a Elementary School Substitute. Through my desire to help students learn and grow I have worked in childcare for many years and also currently nanny after school for 4 amazing children. I strive to teach students the benefits of being physically literate and that PE is not just for atheltes. Throughout my education at SUNY Cortland and my time at Walt Whitman I have learned valuable knowledge and look forward to creating a class environment that promotes inclusivity, learning and success in and outside of school!
