I will forever be grateful for Washington Township High School's former principal, Rosemarie Farrow, for taking a chance putting a fresh-out-of-college 22-year-old in charge of a class of seniors. This was especially intrepid of her considering I completed my student teaching semester in a tiny middle school that has since been abolished.
After teaching for two years at "Twp," I spent a year at Lindenwold High School and ended up at my alma mater, Sterling High School. A fan of the written word since my very first Dick and Jane book, I wanted to grow up and be a teacher starting on my first day of Kindergarten. With each amazing teacher from whom I had the pleasure of learning, my desire to inspire others intensified every year, and I am happy to report that I feel the same way today, over a decade into my career, and the only career I'd prefer is being the next Weird Al Yankovic there's nothing I'd rather be doing!
I am very active in this community. In 2019, I was elected to Laurel Springs Borough Council and appointed as the Director of Community Engagement. I volunteer for the Laurel Springs Home and School Council, and I assist my husband, the Chair of the Recreation Commission, in planning borough events. I volunteer with BookSmiles as a Book Harvesting Hero.
When I'm not teaching, you'll find me spending time with my husband, our son, and our dog. We are board game enthusiasts, artists, musicians, and lovers of the outdoors. An ovarian cancer survivor, I believe in finding joy and humor wherever possible. In fact, I once took a stand-up comedy workshop with Vince Valentine of the Broadway production Defending the Caveman and performed an original comedy set, opening for Julia Scotti of Showtime's More Funny Women of a Certain Age.
