In the 2024-2025 school year, education and opportunities were separate committees.
The Education Committee focused on:
Planning monthly GBMs
Previous GBM speakers have included physicians such as Dr. Tony Fuller, Dr. Brian Lau, and Dr. Lindsey Goeres
Developing the Miles to Medicine podcast
Hosted by two of our committee members, focusing on student experiences within the pre-health pathway
Creating resource infographics that included where and how to find shadowing, research, and clinical experience
The Opportunities Committee focused on:
Coordinating new opportunities such as volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House and touring the SEAL Lab at the Duke Medical School
Kickstarting the Mentorship Program by connecting club members with Duke medical school students and resident physicians
Establishing a partnership with The Princeton Review to provide club members with pre-health workshops and presentations, and discounted MCAT prep materials
Helping the Education Committee in developing resource infographics
We continue to provide our members with new volunteering opportunities and experiences such as touring the SEAL Lab at the Duke Medical School. Our partnership with The Princeton Review continues to provide club members with pre-health workshops and presentations and discounted MCAT prep materials. Our mentorship program continues to connect club members with Duke medical school students and resident physicians, providing invaluable mentorship and networking practice. Keep your eye out for our monthly GBMs, where you can hear from doctors from various fields, gain insight into research labs, medical school, residency, and work-life balance.
