A Western Screech Owl needed more space. His interior habitat was technically sufficient, but doubling the size would vastly improve his quality of life and provide an even more secure vestibule to prevent accidental escape.
This habitat turned out great! Some favorite features:
All branches are easily removeable for cleaning and swapping. I used hooks, cleats and even a custom PVC mount
Branches fgar enough apart that he doesn't damage wings, but still loys to do
Two houses. One for hiding and one for stashing food, a really unpleasant (for his keepers) natural behavior.
Emergency feeding chute, so if all trained personnel called out one day in an emergency, he could still be fed.
Supply shelf on the side for jesses, gauntlets and coping supplies
Branches of differing sized and with varying pads to prevent bumblefoot
