I've learnt the water cycle before. It was nice to have a refresher course I could do in my own time. It gave me a chance to pull my old notes and reread them. I found some great websites that I was happy to share. I was worried I would not be original, but everyone thought of different resources to add to Padlet.
I liked looking at the Padlet every day as the list of 3 key ideas and 3 website resources grew. Everyone has added their unique ideas. It was good to read additional resources so I could add to my notes. I noticed the comments section, so I marked the sights I used.
Doing the Nearpod presentation on the first day seemed a bit pointless, as I could answer all the questions. But it was good to do them in my own time, at my own pace. The games were good it gave me a chance to test my knowledge without looking at my notes. Afterwards, everyone got to ask Mrs Sunderland additional questions. I guess my friends needed the extra time to learn.
I roped in my family for my video on the dishwasher, that was fun. I did not know that the water cycle existed everywhere, I've only learnt that it only existed in nature. The Flip grid question was a great way to discover the connection of this topic outside the classroom. The other videos about the water cycle in the home were awesome. Flip grid was a great way to share our ideas. Everyone had great videos, so I was happy to congratulate them. Many students did the same too.
It is always fun doing group experiments outside. The classroom is always stuffy. Utilising a wiki for all the data was great, we also uploaded a video of the experiment. One of my team was sick, so I could access information off google drive when I needed it. First time I didn't have to rely on anyone for the data.
I thought Mrs Sunderland was Weird when she didn't want a written scientific report. All the other teachers ask for written reports in science. It is the first time being asked to present the report in a professional business format way that was fun.
Mrs Sunderland made the water cycle fun.
