Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP):
What does Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) mean? A BIP is a written plan used after a functional behavior assessment (FBA) (Michigan Department of Education, 2022). The BIP specifies the actions to take to improve the behavior. This plan consists of teaching and rewarding good behavior.
How does this affect general education teachers? When following a BIP, it is important for teachers to follow the plan in order to prevent or stop misbehavior. An example of what might be in a BIP would be to have the student practice silent signals, ask for a break if needed, and enforce positive phrasing (Power School, 2022).
