Teachers can record videos in Microsoft Teams (even with no students present). These videos can then be uploaded to Microsoft Stream. You can record videos in other ways and still upload them to Microsoft Stream. More details show below.
Unlike YouTube (even if the videos are shown as Unlisted), you as a teacher can control which group of students within your organisation can see your students. Students will not be able to share your link to other third parties. Students cannot download the video, unlike some workarounds with YouTube videos.
You as a teacher can download the video recorded in Teams of Microsoft Stream.
You can add a quiz directly in Microsoft Stream to ensure engagement and provide an an opportunity for the students to think and reflect about what they have seen.
Stream videos can also be embedded in a Microsoft Form directly.
You can obtain a link for this Video, and schedule it as an assignment, so that it appears to the students on the day and time you set it to. You can integrate with this assignment follow-up work you want your students to do and hand-in.
You can also upload to Stream, other videos you record with screen-cast software like Loom, Screencast-o-matic or PowerPoints recorded videos (.mp4). Similarly you can control which groups of students see them and also schedule them through an assignment.
Videos in Stream can only be trimmed at the beginning and the end of the video. They CANNOT be edited. However, we suggest to use Loom (that is free to use) for screencasting, recording, EDITING and downloading your video and then uploading it to Microsoft Stream.

This section also includes how to record videos in Microsoft Teams; how to upload them to Stream, how to trim the videos and how to set the viewing permissions. Furthermore, this section shows how to create a video channel playlist in Microsoft Stream and add it as a Tab into your Teams class.
We have suggested Loom as it offers both the recording and editing features. If you are interested in other editing software we suggest either https://screencast-o-matic.com/screen-recorder and editor, that allows you to upload videos and edit them at about 15 euro per year or https://www.openshot.org/ which is a free downloadable editor.
Sometimes teachers find it more easy to explain on a small flat whiteboard or a piece of paper. How can the teacher show these explanations to students by sharing their screen using Microsoft Teams or Zoom or Webex?
This can be done using a mobile camera and a laptop. This method can also be used to record an explanatory video (using the flipped classroom approach) in
Microsoft Teams. The video will show the teacher's hand while explaining on a paper or small white board. This can be recorded in a private teacher-only channel in Microsoft Teams and it will be automatically uploaded to Stream. This can then be shared with students through the Microsoft Class Team.
We included this here as we felt some of you may find this method suitable for creating your videos and then uploading them to Stream
There is no direct way to schedule videos in Microsoft Teams. So we are suggesting two work arounds.
Either scheduling the video as an assignment in MS Teams or scheduling the video link as a post in the Teams channel by using Microsoft Outlook.
Integrating your video into a Microsoft Form Quiz ensures that the students have watched the video. Through the questioning you can get feedback on whether the students have engaged with the video, their understanding of the video and also what are their thoughts following the viewing of the video.
The Microsoft Quiz can also be set and scheduled as an Assignment in Microsoft Teams as described above.
