VoiceThread Reflection
After completing this activity, I can see the strength and inclusivity of this educational technology. This tool can be used to further annotate a presentation or a series of images. There are multiple means of annotation, which means the tool includes UDL (universal design for learning) through student's choice of differentiation. Like how I presented, I could even offer multiple annotations at the same time, in both written and oral forms. This way, students can choose the optimal method for themselves on how to present to others and how to learn from others.
For multilingual learners (and shy students), a tool like VoiceThread can reduce the discomfort of presenting live and in front of an audience while offering them the chance to speak. These students can build their communication skills alongside the rest of the class in a safe way for them. Also since VoiceThreads require an image or slide, this makes students present information visually, as well. For newcomer students, this can be a great opportunity to present cultural assets. Unlike an entire slide, students can choose just a single image to represent what they want to communicate about.
