Over the course of this semester, I have gained a deep insight into working with an assortment of applications. I am grateful getting the opportunity to learn how to work with different voice and video recording software, Google suite applications, artificial intelligence, as well as online design tools. I feel more confident now in exploring the software options buried deep in the Internet, still waiting to be discovered by me. Hopefully, I can discover useful novel tools for my teaching practice as I mature in my education career.
Module 1 introduced me to the concept of digital citizenship and the importance of teaching students appropriate etiquette in a world that increasingly runs on technology. Module 2 exposed me to a new side of AI, showing how it can be a support tool for creating content for teaching. Looking back, I have since found an even better AI: Magicschool. It is an artificial intelligence created for the sole purpose of supporting people who work in schools. Modules 3 and pushed me to consider more UDL strategies like concept maps and other visuals that I can potentially provide for my students. This is an ongoing objective: filling up my UDL toolbox as I take note of strategies that work throughout my teaching. Module 5 led me to the understanding that asynchronous lessons take time and a lot of preplanning, but in return, students will have more ways to learn and internalize content. Module 6 taught me how to create a progressive rubric. I want to believe in my students' success, so I should embody that ideal using deliberate, progressive language. It takes a lot of time, and it can reveal my biases and barriers towards a truly culturally responsive education. Finally, module 7 teaches me to be creative with the materials I create. School should be fun. Monotone colors and materials devoid of creativity informs a child that learning is boring. That is the opposite of what educators should be aiming for. If we want to create lifelong learners, then we should aim to inspire and spark that sense of imagination within every child.
This digital learning journey has been one marked by an endless amount of brainstorming. It has forced me to reimagine what school is like and step into the shoes of the very youth I am teaching. To make learning inspiring, I have to ensure that my content is fun, clear, and concise. To that end, I will continue to build on this site that I have worked on and look for more tools to enhance my content creation.
