The Digital Leaders Scotland Award brings together key elements of Curriculum for Excellence: Building the Curriculum 4, Skills Development Scotland's Skills Model 4.0 and 'My World of Work' to enable pupils have the the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to adapt, think critically and flourish in today’s world.
The award is organised into themes in order to support teachers who are developing a Digital Leaders group within their school for the first time, and also to give a structure with the opportunity to celebrate the successes of Pupil Digital Leaders at each stage of their journey.
The refreshed narrative of Curriculum for Excellence, has at its centre, four fundamental capacities. These capacities reflect and recognise the lifelong nature of education and learning. The Digital Leaders Scotland Award links directly to the Four Capacities and sits alongside the full curriculum.
Skills 4.0 : A skills Model to Drive Scotland's Future published by Skills Development Scotland anticipates that:
Technology will continue to provide new ways of connecting and collaborating globally, making it easier to operate across wider and more disparate organisations and increasing market opportunities (Buchanan et al, 2016)
whilst it may be technically easier to collaborate globally, this creates increasing complexity for us as humans as we are required to develop relationships in new and different ways.
The overview gives a summary of the 4 themes and the key leadership skills that should be recorded in the profile section of My World of Work, as part of the award. For more detailed information about how to complete each theme, click on Learn, Lead, Communicate, or Safety.
