Objective:
To raise awareness of digital fatigue, empowering young individuals to implement preventative boundaries and recognize the primary indicators of burnout before they escalate.
Target Audience: The always-on Student
Demographic: College student aged 18 to 34
Psychographic: Individuals who manage academic loads alongside active digital social lives; those who feel a "phantom" obligation to be reachable 24/7.
Key Pain Point: Instant Gratification Pressure. They feel internal and external pressure to respond immediately to all notifications, leading to cognitive overload and a decreased ability to deliver thoughtful or "negative" messages (such as saying no to an invite) because they are emotionally drained.
Central Message:
Constant connection isn't high performance—it's high pressure. Protect your peace by setting your own digital pace.
The Data (The "Why")
Constant digital "encounters" and the need for instant gratification create a feedback loop of exhaustion.
When people reach peak digital fatigue, they prioritize avoiding further emotional labor. This often leads to a "shut down" response where individuals stop engaging because they lack the energy to manage even simple social or professional interactions.
Digital burnout doesn't stay on your phone; it infiltrates the classroom and the job market. Fatigue leads to decreased reasoning accuracy and a higher tendency to withdraw from opportunities and relationships.
Digital Fatigue Indicators
The Phantom Vibration: Feeling your phone buzz when it hasn’t, or compulsively checking it the second you have a "micro-moment" of boredom.
Response Dread: Feeling a wave of anxiety or exhaustion when a simple text or "ping" notification appears.
The Infinite Scroll Fog: Realizing you’ve been scrolling for 20+ minutes without actually absorbing any information.
Social Irritability: Finding yourself annoyed by friends or colleagues simply because they are "requesting" your digital attention.
Screen Fatigue: Physical symptoms like dry eyes, a tight neck/shoulders, or a "fuzzy" headache after long periods of connectivity.
Creative Approach
The campaign will focus on the physical and mental weight of digital fatigue.
Tone & Key Pillars
Humorous/friendly
Empathy: Acknowledging that the digital world is designed to be addictive and that fatigue is a natural response, not a personal failure.
Awareness: Highlighting the "primary indicators" of burnout: irritability, obsessive checking of social networks, and a sense of humiliation or self-criticism when one cannot "keep up."
Behavior Change: Encouraging the audience to adopt "digital rest" periods and to value quality of connection over quantity of responses.
Omnichannel Distribution (you do not have to use all of them)
On-Campus: Posters in study lounges and libraries (prime locations for digital fatigue).
Transit: Bus stops, bus interior panels, and metro areas (Barcelona) where students are likely to scroll to pass the time.
Social: IG/TikTok content focusing on "Digital Detox" tips and identifying the signs of a "fried" nervous system.
Other (look around, there may be some unconventional ways to get the message across)
Call to Action (CTA) (open, but in this mindset)
Recognize the signs. Reset the boundaries. Reclaim your balance.
