  1. Create a site using Wordpress, with 3rd party hosting with appropriate domain name.
  2. Add all 119 students as editors or authors to the site.
  3. Develop in class activity for groups to browse plug-n for page building and other features for Wordpress, to deisgn posts for the site.
  4. Demonstrate how to develop a blog post using plug-ins or basic WordPress editor tools.
  5. Student in groups or as individuals write and publish posts for website based on their Junkanoo in GB research projects.
  6. Have students include media objects with proper citation that they gathered and/or created during their research projects.


Future iterations:

  • Prepare teaching materials on digital archiving and digital scholarship in realm of public humanities to integrate as part of the course module on researching Junkanoo in GB;
  • Develop a mini project on creating digital objects and preparing them for archiving by adding metadata that are linked to student projects (Junkanoo in GB);
  • Develop generic teaching materials on conducting primary research using interviews, surveys and focus groups using digital tools in lower-level general education courses
  • Develop a mini project on converting gathered primary materials to digital media (multimedia formats), and prepare for archiving with appropriate metadata and permissions
  • Develop a module on shared bibliographies using Zotero to make a public annotated bibliography about Bahamian Junkanoo .


  • Develop introductory module on community archiving and public history making with exemplary projects to inspire and provide models for student projects;
  • Explore exemplary digital archives, story telling, mapping and other vizualization or mulitmedia sites as a springboard for students to develop their own projects;
