2022 NASA Airborne Astronomy Ambassadors (AAA's)

Fall 2022

AAA teachers receive training in astrophysics and planetary science, including a week-long STEM immersion experience at a NASA astronomy research facility such as the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) based in Palmdale, California. AAAs teach a physical science curriculum module created by the SETI Institute that connects curriculum concepts to NASA-enabled research 

Infiniscope Advisory Board/Lesson Evaluator

2017-2021

Position responsibilities included Educator lesson review using NGSS rubric and testing with students using learning experiences with lessons. Monthly engagement with other Advisory Board members. Final project or goal was to create a lesson using special interface associated with the Infiniscope mission.

NASA Explorer School

Experiences on STEM topics such as radio telescopes with GARVT, Globe activities, Laser Satellites, and other activities. Collaboration between teachers continues post experience. Grant award for Honor School.

Honeywell Educator Space Academy/Advanced Space Camp

 Summers   2012-2013

Honeywell Educator gave me the experience to work with other teachers worldwide and develop new STEM activities for my classroom. I have improved many lessons based on my space academy experience. My enrichment was extended and deepened by attending Advanced Space Camp. This enabled me to bring meaningful lessons to my classroom and colleagues.

Siemens Teachers/Discovery STARs 

Summer  2013

Worked with geologists at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.  I was able to conduct research on a mammoth dig site. Current STEM activities in my classroom reflect proper research techniques obtained from this experience.

Curriculum Evaluator, NASA JUNO Project

Tested and evaluated lessons associated with the NASA JUNO mission. Lessons completed in classes and evaluations were completed too

           

Responsibilities

Moderator/Coach Robotics Club/Team Present

Current Faculty Moderator of FTC Robotics Team. I am coach and lead person for the Team. Managed and helped with Regional tournament held at Cardinal Gibbons High School. 

Moderator Space Explorers Club

Past Faculty Moderator. During the year we meet and skype with various scientists and engineers. This has included professionals from NASA, Smithsonian, and SpaceX.

Moderator Video Club

Past Faculty Moderator, During the school year we cover and broadcast various school events using professional video equipment. 

JPL OpenSource Rover Build Moderator

Current project building the open source Mars Rover from JPL

Moderator/Coach Drone Club

Faculty Moderator, this club meets during the school year to learn about drones, the physics of drones and how to build your own drone. We also look at careers available for Drone pilots.
