Range Rules

  1. Range hours are 9:00 a.m. to sunset year round.
  2. All shooters must sign the registry book located inside the clubhouse before shooting.
  3. All guests of members must sign waiver of liability document in clubhouse before shooting and given a copy of range rules.
  4. Make a reasonable effort to locate and identify all persons “signed in” on the property before shooting for safety reasons as well as common courtesy.
  5. Respect the “Range Closed” sign.
  6. When the range is being used, the building shall be open to allow access to the phone in case of emergency even if cell phones are available.
  7. Never use alcohol or drugs before or while shooting.
  8. Refrain from eating, drinking, smoking, or placing your hands in proximity to your mouth or nose while on the range due to exposure to airborne particulate lead. Recommended to wash hands after leaving range.
  9. Shooting members must obtain and display Range Card openly while on the range.
  10. Guest and family members must be accompanied by qualified Range Member at all times while shooting. (members are responsible for their actions)
  11. Only four shooters at a time on rifle range.
  12. Non-shooters must stand a minimum of 10 feet behind shooters.
  13. Wear eye and ear protection at all times while shooting.
  14. Use range time reasonably if other shooters are waiting to shoot. (maximum 2 hours if others are waiting to shoot)
  15. When portable or hand throwers are being used at shotgun range, shooters may only shoot at 25 yard marker on pistol/rifle range.
  16. The pistol/rifle range will be closed during monthly trap shoot.
  17. All shotgun discharges on trap range must be between designated mark boundaries.
  18. All targets must be placed against the backstop and not on the upright post and positioned so bullets are captured in berm.
  19. No 50 caliber BMG allowed.
  20. No tracer or incendiary ammunition allowed.
  21. No armor piercing ammunition allowed.
  22. No cross lane shooting
  23. Shotgun shells restricted to sizes 7 ½, 8, or 9 for shooting clay targets.
  24. Only one shotshell loaded at a time while on trap range except when shooting doubles.
  25. Misfires are to be taken home with you.
  26. The first person on the range should act as range safety officer and coordinate the use of the range unless a range safety officer is present.
  27. Pick up all litter, used targets, empty brass and shotgun hulls after shooting and take with you when you leave.
  28. Follow the three NRA rules for safe gun handling:
    • ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
    • ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
    • ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.
  29. When using a gun, always follow these NRA rules for safe use:
    • Know your target and what is beyond; make sure the down-range area is unoccupied.
    • Be sure the gun is safe to operate.
    • Be thoroughly familiar with how the gun operates.
    • Use only the correct ammunition for your gun.
    • Wear eye and ear protection as appropriate.
    • Never use alcohol or drugs before or while shooting.
    • Unattended guns should not be accessible to unauthorized persons.
  30. Obey all basic range commands.
  31. Anyone wanting to go downrange to change or attend to a target must:
    • Announce to all the other people at the range their intent to go downrange.
    • All shooters must unload their firearm, open the action and place on bench. (use of empty chamber indicators recommended)
    • Anyone not going down range must stand back two steps from bench.
    • No gun handling of any kind while anyone is down range.
  32. All rules must be strictly adhered to. Any infraction of these rules will be subject to loss of shooting privileges or loss of membership to be determined by Range Committee.
