A celebration of the river through arts, talks and walks
Conceived and organised by Alexander Caminada, Angela Findlay, and Kel Portman, Dialogues with the Severn is a weekend celebration of the River Severn. The mini festival takes place in Stroud's unique Chapels of Rest and at Arlingham by the river. Artists, writers, musicians, poets, walkers, and river-lovers come together to listen, create, reflect and connect with each other and with the Severn.
Talk: Fri 18th 18:00-18:30

Exhibition: Fri 18th 18:30-20:30, Sat 19th and Sun 20th 11.00 - 17.00
Multi-media artworks and installations exploring the landscape, stories and ecology of the Severn. Participating artists: Kel Portman, Alexander Caminada, Angela Findlay, Louisa Fairclough, Carolyn Black.
PechaKucha: Saturday 19th 19.00 - 21.00
PechaKucha is a unique presentation style where each presenter shows 20 images of their work and each image is shown for only 20 seconds. A series of people will talk about their unique relationship with the Severn.
Art Walks: Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th 14.00 - 16.00
Guided walks with Kel Portman and Alexander Caminada along the river at Arlingham to observe, reflect, connect and create with cameras, pencils and notepads.
Music and Spoken Word: Sunday 20th 18.00 - 20.00
Live music and poetry in response to the river and its surroundings.
18:00 - 18:30 - Illustrated talk by wild swimmer Melissa Compton
In 2019, Melissa Compton swam the entire length of the River Severn, from its source in Plynlimon in the Welsh mountains to the sea at Avonmouth. She will talk about her passion for swimming in the River and her concern about river pollution.

New and past work, featuring paintings, photography, sculpture and video by: Angela Findlay, Kel Portman, Alexander Caminada, Carolyn Black and Louisa Fairclough

14:00 - 16:00 - Guided Walk with Alexander Caminada, Arlingham
Join photographer and sound artist Alexander Caminada for a guided walk along the River Severn at Arlingham to observe, reflect, connect, and create. These immersive walks offer an opportunity to encounter the river and its surrounding landscape through different perspectives. Along the way, you will engage with the character, stories and ecology of this unique environment, taking time to notice what is often overlooked and to consider your own relationship with the River. There will be several stops to sketch, photograph, write and record and respond to the land and riverscape

Fast, image-led storytelling — 20 images, 20 seconds each. A lineup of speakers share their personal relationship with the Severn in this lively, varied evening of voices and perspectives.
