The Evergreen Stage of Los Angeles, California is a treat for musicians and a wonderful facility for the television and movie industry, owing to its status as one of the largest independent sound stages available for recording in the Greater LA area.
Formerly owned by DiaDan Holdings Ltd. (a Nova Scotia company), the Evergreen Stage rose out of the ashes of the former Magnolia Theatre, first built in the 1940s.
Since 1979, the building has thrived in its present-day life as a well-equipped sound stage and recording studio. It features a 3,000 square foot live room, which has hosted a long line of musical legends, young and old. The space was renovated in 2012 to better serve a myriad of guests, including symphony orchestras, live bands, and talented groups of singer/songwriters.
These days, the Evergreen is abuzz with activity. Music greats like Blake Shelton and producer extraordinaire Scott Hendricks have used the space, while other marathon sessions with LA’s top studio musicians and top songwriters like Kenny G continue. The Evergreen Stage is still favoured as a recording facility for the movie and television industry as well, where the camaraderie continues. During breaks from these sessions, you may find the sound engineers--musicians themselves--leaving the hub of the control room, a 72-channel Neve 8078 mixing console, to play guitar on the other side of the glass, and enjoy the atmosphere of this well-equipped facility.
Or, you may find a few wind and brass musicians—and groups of singers—practicing in the lead-up to a full symphony recording, or the dress rehearsal for a live event.
With three isolation booths, a projection screen, and a comprehensive array of gear, the beautiful facility also acts as a convenient venue for musical workshops and other music industry training sessions. These give session musicians and other pros the opportunity to participate in in-depth instruction and discussions about motivation and process, especially when it comes to creating arrangements or producing a particular genre of music.
Other exclusive workshops have featured the audio engineering side of the music business and demonstrated the capabilities of the newest high-end studio gear for industry professionals.
