How Literature has shaped me?

“What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though.”

― J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye

First of all being shaped by is difficult as well as wonderful learning process as well, literature has shaped me slowly and steadily from graduation to masters..

This process started from the very First Day of our Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and now this process is about to end with final year of Master Of Arts in English Literature.

When I started the journey of literature from the first year of B.A, I learnt so many things till now and today i m the totally different person from earlier.

“Lock up your libraries if you like; but there is no gate, no lock, no bolt that you can set upon the freedom of my mind.”

Virginia Woolf, A Room of One's Own

Because of literature now I know how to understand Human Beings and how to understand society. I can understand moral standards and morality. Now I can easily choose between what is good for me and what is bad for me. It also connect me with the society, to the world..I am no longer alone, the books ,the literature is with me.. That makes me more mature.. As  F. Scott Fitzgerald quotes,

“That is part of the beauty of all literature. You discover that your longings are universal longings, that you're not lonely and isolated from anyone. You belong.”

My thinking level is increased very much with critical thinking process.Thinking capacity is also increased.. Now I am critical thinker.Literature shaped me to a mature person with the knowledge and art.
