Dheekshitha Venkadeshan, professionally known as Dhee was born in 1998 to a Sri Lankan Tamil father Venkadeshan from Jaffna and a mother Meenakshi Iyer who is a Carnatic musician. She was raised and schooled in Sydney, Australia. Her upbringing in Sydney exposed her to a beautiful blend of Indian and Australian sounds, shaping her unique musical identity. Mentored by her stepfather, renowned musician Santhosh Narayanan, She began lending her enchanting voice to his compositions while still pursuing her education.

In 2014, The singer gained prominence with the song "Naan Nee" from the critically acclaimed film "Madras," earning her a Filmfare Award nomination. Her mesmerizing alto voice and versatility shine through in the hit "Rowdy Baby" from the film "Maari 2" (2018), where the singer seamlessly blends contemporary pop with the rich tapestry of Indian music. The song, featuring Dhee alongside Dhanush, became a viral sensation. She later went on to win two SIIMA awards for Best Female Playback Singer. The first for her performance in "Rowdy Baby" and the second in 2022 for "Uttradheenga Yeppov" from the movie Karnan. This win, along with her prestigious Filmfare Award for Best Playback Singer for the song "Kaatu Paayale" from Soorari Pottru, solidified her status as a rising star.
