Assigment 2: Needs Assesment
The is to improve the quality of life for elderly individuals by providing continuous health monitoring in real-time. The system aims to reduce the risk of medical emergencies by enabling caregivers and healthcare providers to receive instant updates on vital signs and activity levels. Additionally, this solution allows elderly individuals to maintain their independence and mobility, offering the freedom to move about, take walks, and engage in daily activities outside their homes, while still being closely monitored. This solution will help detect health issues early, reduce hospitalization rates, and provide peace of mind to both patients and their families.
This system targets elderly individuals, particularly those with chronic conditions or mobility issues, living independently or in assisted living facilities. It will also benefit caregivers and healthcare providers who need tools to monitor patients remotely. This technology could be applied in homes, nursing homes, or rural areas where access to immediate healthcare services may be limited.
The system will be built using wearable IoT devices (e.g., smartwatches, wristbands) that continuously monitor vital signs such as heart rate, oxygen levels, blood pressure, and activity patterns. These devices will be equipped with wireless communication protocols (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi) to transmit data to a central cloud-based system where it is analyzed using AI algorithms. Alerts will be sent to caregivers or healthcare professionals when irregularities or signs of distress are detected.
Health Monitoring: Real-time tracking of elderly patients’ vital signs, offering early detection of medical issues (e.g., heart problems, respiratory issues) and immediate alerts for emergency intervention.
Peace of Mind: Caregivers will receive regular updates on the health status of their loved ones, even when they are not physically present.
Reduced Hospital Visits: By detecting issues early, the system is expected to reduce emergency hospitalizations and allow for better management of chronic conditions.
Data Analytics: The system will collect health data over time, providing healthcare providers with long-term insights into patient health trends, enabling personalized care plans.
The exact cost of implementing the remote health monitoring system is still under consideration and depends on several factors, including the scale of deployment, the choice of wearable hardware, and the complexity of the software platform.
