Phytochemistry, Plant Metabolomics and Metabolic Engineering

• Our lab is interested in structures, biosynthesis and metabolic engineering of plant natural products.

• We are particularly focusing on plant natural products with high medicinal and nutritional benefits and biofuel values.

• We are also interested in Metabolic Biology of Plant Natural Products.

• We are using an integrated approach including phytochemistry, metabolomics, functional genomics and biochemistry to understand plant, tissue, and cell specificity of biosynthesis of plant natural products.

• Current researches include proanthocyanidins, anthocyanins, sesquiterpenoids and volatiles.

• We are using model systems to understand molecular, biochemical, and structural mechanisms of these natural products and then apply our discoveries for development of metabolic engineering.
