Just returned from presenting her first conference poster at ASAB Spring, Eleanor brings you a new series guiding you through attending your first academic conference. In Part 1, she shares what she has learned about finding the right conference, submitting an abstract, and applying for a travel grant.
Watch this space for Part 2 landing soon, in which Eleanor will cover the logistics you need to consider before heading off for that first conference - including tips and tricks for designing (and transporting!) your poster.
Tickets are now live for the Lyme Regis Fossil Festival 2026. If you're wondering what to expect, why not check out Eleanor's article on what she got up to at last year's event.

Everybody loves the giant extinct frog Beelzebufo, often known as the Devil Toad. Its antics of eating baby dinosaurs and rolling down hills have garnered it much deserved fame, and we on the blog team have taken a special liking to it. That's why we decided to name ourselves in its honour, and to give it a unique spin we combined it with the name of a classic eggy snack, the deviled egg, for a fun play on words. If you're keen to learn more about Beelzebufo, we're hoping to write an article about it in the near future, so stay tuned.
