I mentored Lovisa during her summer research internship in our lab (June 17–August 16, 2024) at UCSB. She joined us from the Department of Physics at Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, where she was a master's student at the time. Her project focused on investigating micromechanisms of photomechanical deformation in molecular crystals. She concluded her internship with a poster presentation titled Micromechanics of Photo-Triggered Phase Transitions in Molecular Crystals.

I mentored Saul during Summer 2023 as part of the SHINE (Summer High School Intensive in Next-Generation Engineering) program at the University of Southern California. At the time, Saul was a rising senior at Green Design STEAM Academy, Los Angeles. During his internship, he contributed to our lab’s efforts to study photomechanical materials. He concluded his experience by presenting a poster summarizing his understanding and findings from the project.
